OUR DAY

9.15 am

Children arrive and hang their coats on their pegs. They then place their names into the box on the desk in the main hall. Staff are available to talk to parents/carers.

Free play: The children choose from a wide variety of activities which take place inside and outside (free flow). Qualified staff supports children. To help the children build their confidence and self esteem the children are encouraged to do as much as possible for themselves and learn through play.

Activities Include: Water play, home corner, dressing up, construction, small world activities, drawing, painting, gluing, play dough, clay modelling, stories, cooking and planting.

9.45- 10.30 am

Rolling Snack: Children are free to choose when they would like their snack. Children are encouraged to be independent. They find their name card and post it into the box and then wash their hands. They then find themselves a cup and plate and bring them to the table. They are actively involved in preparing and pouring. When they have finished the children place their used cups and plates on the trolley.

10.40 - 10.50 am

Tidy up time: Children are encouraged to help put the toys and equipment away. A tambourine is used to indicate tidy up time and children go to sit on the carpet. A group of children are then assigned with a member of staff to tidy up a certain area. When they have all helped and the room is clear children then return back to the carpet.

11 am

Physical/Energetic play: Children are able to play with bikes/scooters, balls and hoops and trampoline. This usually takes place in our outside area or the Astroturf enclosure.

11.35 am

Circle Time: We all come together as a group sitting on chairs in a circle back in the hall. Children are able to join in with singing songs and requesting their favourite tunes. We also use musical instruments or have music and dance as an activity.

Children’s work is handed out at end of activity. Lunch club children’s names are called who then sit in the dining room for a story with an adult while the non lunch club children go home.

11.45 am

Home Time: Parents/Carers arrive. Staff are always available to talk to Parents/Carers.

Children arrive who are doing afternoon sessions and have a lunch club first. These children find their names on the table and join the other children having a story on the carpet.

11.45 - 12.45 pm

Lunch Club: This takes place in the hall. Children use toilets and wash hands. They have lunches which have been provided from home (healthy eating is promoted and no nuts policy). This is a social activity for the children. When they have finished children are offered a selection of carpet or table activities.

Parents/ Carers arrive whose children are not doing afternoon sessions.
